Vampires
Vampires are not the typical ugly, bloodsucking creatures they are made out to be. They actually look like normal human beings, except for their fangs and heightened senses. Their fangs are retractable, only appearing when the vampire wishes them to. Vampires can drink animal blood or human blood, either one is fine, though in this Safe Haven it is preferred that they drink animal blood as it is easier to take.
Appearance:
A vampire is beautiful and has close to zero appearance flaws. They can make a normal human flaw seem amazing and beautiful, which annoys other mythicals occasionally. They can have several different eye colors other than a normal humans' eye color. The different eye colors include violet, red, gold, and black. Their skin does not change after they become a vampire, it stays the same. They can age, but age very slowly.
Health:
A vampire can not become a werewolf if bitten by one. If anything they would be stunned and their body may shut down to recover. Vampires can be hurt, yes they can, and if they get harmed their body would recover and they would loose blood and become hungry, and they would need to feed. A vampire can only go 2 weeks without feeding, any longer and they would become a monster and attack the first human or animal they see, and the scene is not pretty.
The heightened senses that a Vampire has are heightened hearing, sight, smelling, and ability to run. They can run fast, and it helps for them to be able to catch up with their prey. They can smell blood from about a mile away. Their sight is incredible, they can see clear as day in the dark. A vampire can hear the tiniest mouses' heartbeat.
There are a few ways to kill a vampire. The stereotypical way, wooden stake through the heart, does not work. It would hurt them and again make them need to feed, but would not kill them. If you cut their head off that would not kill them but would cause problems, you would need to set them on fire. Fire is one of their worst enemies. Their worst enemy is the sun. If a vampire is in the sun for more than three hours they would burn up and slowly, painfully, die. It's a horrible way to die.
Vampires are not entirely immortal. They just age very slowly. A vampire will live until they are about 200 years old. Five years for a Vampire is like one year for a Human. If you saw a Vampire one day, and saw them again a year later, they would look the same.
For a Human to become a Vampire, they would have to be bitten on the neck, and the vampire has a special sense that allows them to inject the human with the venom that would start The Change.
But The Change is not the only way a Vampire is created, Vampires can mate to create children, but these children are not born peacefully and usually the births involve their mother dieing. Many have tried, and none of the mothers had survived, leaving the children with their father, or in an orphanage.
The Change:
The Change is the most painful moment a human would ever have to deal with, though after The Change the new Vampire has other worries. As soon as a Human is bitten and receives the venom they pass out, throughout the whole thing the human is unable to talk or move. Then, as they lay wherever they are, their life flashes before their eyes as a small fire starts in their heart, it spreads to the tips of their toes and fingertips, and feels as if their body is on fire. Then, it feels as if someone stuck pins and needles in every part of their body. Eventually their body cools down and if feels as if they are sitting in ice. Before they wake up, there is a burning sensation in their throat, which is their need to feed. When they wake up the first thing they do is find food, which is why it is crucial that they do not wake up anywhere but in a sealed room with something to eat inside.
